What is the "I Promise Project"?
On January 28th from 7 PM to 11 PM, More than Me (MTM) partners with Givology to host a “Night of Promise” to raise funding for the “I Promise Project” for girls in Liberia.
About More than Me and the Project
More than Me helps little girls get off the street and into school in one of the poorest slums in the world. In Liberia, over 60% of the children are out of school, the majority girls. As families try to survive on less than $1 a day, there is often no extra money for school fees, shoes, uniforms, and everything else a girl needs to get to school.
MTM not only pays for all costs related to school including lunch (which often is the only meal these girls receive in a day), but we have staff that work closely with the girls and the community to help her succeed. Over 10% of our girls are 1st in their class! When school is over, however, these girls are back on the dangerous streets.
Through the “I Promise Project”, MTM will operate a safe place for the girls to stay after school. We will provide tutoring, therapy, vocational training, class trips and an opportunity to participate in sports, art, and yoga classes that teach self-esteem and soft skills that will make them successful beyond their basic education.
This night at Marquee is dedicated to the "I Promise Project". We need $100,000 to build and maintain this program for the 1st year to help over 500 girls. As a kick off to our fundraising campaign, we're holding this event in celebration!

About Givology
The NYC Chapter of Givology has partnered with MTM to make this event an unforgettable night! 100% of the proceeds go to the MTM project. Givology is an online giving marketplace for education to empower individual donors to connect with students and schools in need. By leveraging the Internet to support student scholarships and education projects through our network of grassroots partnerships, Givology links interested donors to community-driven initiatives in the developing world, such as teacher training, library construction, textbook purchases, among other activities. Notably, Givology makes giving easy, transparent, and rewarding, allowing any donor to track his or her impact through an online account to receive regular updates. Givology also emphasizes blogging, pen pal relations, dialogue about education delivery, and 1x1 connections with our students and projects. Our philosophy is “Give to Learn, Learn to Give” – every person has a responsibility to world and has something powerful to offer.
As a 100% volunteer-driven organization, Givology pioneers a new model of “crowd-sourcing” philanthropy to make the largest impact at the lowest cost. We have raised over $230,000 to support over 2,875 students in 23 different countries through 44 grassroots partners. Our organization has 6,000+ supporters on Facebook, Linked-in, and Twitter, 2,440+ registered donors, 11 chapters started at universities, high schools, and various cities, 30 core team members and 90 volunteers globally. We received the Intelius Award for “Best Student-Run Social Enterprise”, were rated a “Top Education Non-profit” by GreatNonprofits, won a significant Google Grant Award, in addition to being recognized by the Kairos Society as an innovative entrepreneurial venture. As we formed new connections through social media, we were extremely pleased to be featured in Nicholas Kristof’s inspiring book Half the Sky, Vivanista, Knowledge@Wharton, Philadelphia Inquirer, MTVAct, among other print and media sources.
